Also I love defending castles but have not been able to that in this mod so I'm not even sure that's an option. One thing I don't like is that sometimes enemy spear men will run off to the side when new enemies show up so instead of shooting at the new enemies who are ready to attack they try to pick off the ones running away who are closer. Also shooting someone who is running away from battle is pretty hard but it feels super great.
It's fucking awesome.Īlso being able to shoot someone who is barely visible because they are so far away feels super satisfying. Seeing enemies die from being shot is so fucking cool but shooting them down as they slowly cross the river and give you the chance to reload is beyond amazing. My army consists mostly of archers and gunners so whenever I can I send all my troops to the top of a hill as soon as possible and I ride my horse to try and kill off any other horse riders.
The combat though is the most satisfying thing in this mod. I'm near the richest town in the game though so I can sell all my items at a high price. Trading is kind of a bitch because I'm very far away from cheap items that are super valuable in my home but I do have good relationships in my home. I'm on day 150 in Gekokujo, I have 2 castles, a town and a village. I've tried Floris and 2 others but for some reason they wouldn't work. Gekokujo is the only mod I've installed that worked. I haven't played many other mods, but I feel Gekokujo should be the first mod everyone plays.Īlso if you're someone from the future googling the phrase 'how to stop gekokujo from crashing when I make a character' the awnser is it's not crashing, it just requires you to wait 5-7 minutes before starting. So much is different, from the pace of combat to the building of empires. I remember building a sword and shield character and when I exported him to Gekokujo I learned half my build was useless, but it was fun. Leaving Calradia to conquer Japan has some intense culture shock. Plus it gets even better if you've played Warband for a few hundred hours. It replicates the Japanese paintings of combat perfectly, the same way that Mount and Blade Warband feels like your living a etching/woodblock.
While I agree the almost identical units makes fighting different factions feel the same, I kinda believe that is the point.
